One of the many books Dr. Mathews has given me to read after looking at a microscopic specimen.
Does anyone have an appendix anymore? This is an example of an appendix, one of the most common specimens we receive.

Every morning at about 6:20, both the midnight and AM shifts of the phlebotomists come back from drawing the whole hospital. I am responsible for restocking their nearly empty carts as quickly as possible.

A leiomyoma, which is a uterine tumor. We get at least one uterus a day, if not more. When I first saw this one, I thought it was a colon, it was so huge and heavy.

During a core biopsy, doctors take a sample of the body and guide their needle using a CT scanner.  The pathology assistants collect the sample as soon as it is removed from the patient.

Note that I cannot take any photos at my internship, so these are all from the internet, as not to violate HIPPA regulations.
